Responsibilities of Authors in Utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Nov 02, 2023Artificial intelligence (AI), language models, machine learning, and comparable technologies are not eligible for authorship recognition. When these tools are employed for content creation, aiding in writing, or manuscript preparation, the onus lies with the authors to ensure and vouch for the content's integrity. It is imperative for authors to disclose the utilization of such AI tools in either the Acknowledgment or Methods section, particularly if they are integral to the research design or methodology. This disclosure should encompass a detailed description of the content influenced or modified by the tools, as well as specifics such as the name, version, extension numbers, and the manufacturer of the utilized language model or tool. It is important to note that this requirement does not extend to basic tools used for grammar, spelling, reference checks, and the like.
